SALICYLIC ACID
This pharmaceutical grade Beta Hydroxy Acid is an approved FDA anti-acne ingredient proven to unclog congested skin cells. In doing so, it
removes excess sebum and dead skin cells that have accumulated as a result of dysfunctions defined as hyperseborrhea (overproduction of sebum)
and hyperkeratinization (excessive production of epithelial cells within the follicle). This action not only removes existing blackheads and whiteheads,
but also precludes any further obstructions when used regularly. Cleansers with 2 percent salicylic acid have been shown to be more effective than
cleansers with 10 percent benzoyl peroxide. Additionally, salicylic acid is less irritating than benzoyl peroxide and does not bleach fabrics.
GLYCOLIC ACID
Originally derived from sugar cane, this fruit acid penetrates quickly and breaks the intercellular bonds of skin cells at various stages of keratinization,
i.e., the process of skin cells maturing and hardening prior to their exfoliation from the skin surface. The small size of a glycolic acid molecule
allows it to penetrate deeper than other fruit acids to help accelerate the exfoliation process, bringing new cells to the surface faster.
MANDELIC ACID
A fruit acid that, due to its larger molecular size compared to glycolic acid, works closer to the skin surface helping to loosen and exfoliate dead
skin cells and allowing fresh new skin to come to the surface more quickly.
MICROBEADS
These small beads are made of polyethylene. Unlike other mechanical exfoliants such as ground nutshells, these beads are smoothly rounded to
avoid skin lacerations or aggravation and wash off easily. Combined with the mild soaps in Clarifying Cleanser, they allow quick and effective
